Today’s Text: Psalms 99-101
Key Text: Psalm 100:1-3
“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”
I like how the Psalmist strings these together….
Joy – Worship – Gladness – Knowing God – We Are His – His people – His sheep.
I’ve known a number of people who, if asked, would come up with another list…
Joy? – What’s that got to do with Worship? Who is God? – I don’t know Him – I’m a self-made person. Who you calling a sheep anyway?
Quite a stark contrast, isn’t it?
The Psalmist clearly knows God and knows he is God’s – and that knowledge makes all the difference – is the source of all the joy found in a life of worship.
One way is all about being part of God’s creation – part of God’s family.
The other is all about being “out there” on your own.
I’ll take the “we are His” approach, any day.
How about you?
