Scripture selection: Luke 24:44
He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
It wasn’t by accident – none of it.
Everything that had happened, everything joyful, everything difficult, everything painful, everything hopeful, everything amazing – none of it – was by accident.
According to Jesus, everything that was “written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms,” had to be fulfilled and it was.
This should give us, thousands of years later, great hope.
While some would dismiss it, some scoff, some say it is only wishful thinking or fairy tales – people of faith say it is the unfolding of a story that began before recorded time itself.
We are part of that same story.
We are to play out our part, responding to the call of God on our own individual lives and how they play into some larger, greater story as well.
It is not by accident. We are not by accident.
All is unfolding, just as it should be, according to God’s providential will and grace.
I can’t wait to see what happens next.
